#266 here is a shot of l to r Ray Tyndall sporting his new beard, Mike Magillis and Ray Mendez
holding up peace sign...this mission was a long one since we all decided to grow beards....I know
the LT was torked but then ...it was a way to show solidarity....This mission if I remember
correctly took us North to a pacification ville that I dont remember the name....we passed several
temples on the way...and many villages. I do remember that the elephant grass in some areas was
over 10 feet tall.....also we found many pungie stakes.

#269 Take five..Ray Mendez enjoying a drink of water note laces on legs and magazines used to
protect vital areas "bracelets" on left wrist indicate first six months in country...after six months I
switched "bracelets" to right arm.....just a way to mark time. Everyone did something to mark
time.

mission took us out during Christmas...The candy cane was my way to have a little something
from home during the holidays


#272 Ray Mendez filling canteen in clean bomb crater water....You guys remember doing
this...we all did.
#273 Loaded up and moving out...this location was north of Dottie where we crossed many
streams...this is where the Vietnamese man lost his legs...very heavy booby trap area....we also
lost two or three rifles in a stream and Shrock dove after them and found them....


#274 Packed up and moving out again l to r Billy Jackson, Ray Mendez this was just outside hill
43 someplace...note we were both wearing steel pots....those were soon thrown out....too heavy.

#275 Now here is a classic shot of all of us....the photo was taken early in the morning and if you
look closely you can see the following people...not the village behind us...we had an ambush
around this village and moved in during the night hours....I this was Loc Son 4....bad area.....left
to right are: Pete Petersen, Arnspiger with his cigarette, Billy Jackson with new bush hat, Ray
Mendez with hand on Kit Carson Scout named “Lucky” his is flipping the bird at the camera....
