Bud Carlson (D/1-6 Inf 1970-71) photos not used elsewhere on the 1st Bn 6th Inf site

Bud operated out of LZ Dottie while serving in the field with the 2nd Platoon, D Co. 1st Bn 6th Inf, for
part of his tour.  Then he moved to HQ Co. to work in the Battalion Adjutant's (S-1) office at Chu Lai.

1971.  PSNCO J.D. Boggs helping a soldier with a problem.  He was Bud's hoochmate, a part-time minister, and "one of the best men [Bud] had ever known." 1971.  Bn Adjutant 1LT Al Divisek trying to make sense out of morning report being submitted by a company clerk named Bailey.

All the soldiers serving in the S-1 shop had spent their time in the field, knew who they were working
for, and did not hold back or slack off.  They were a hard working bunch who put in 12 - 16 hour
workdays that were cut back to 8 hours on Sundays.  Bud even volunteered for a "shit burning" detail
[feces mixed with fuel oil!] to get away from the hectic pace.  In Bud's view, "there might have been
some bad REMF's [Rear Echelon Muther F-----], but these guys were the best."
