Tactical Operations–1 March 1971 - 11 April 1971   FINNEY HILL

1.  On 1 March 1971, the 1st Bn 6th Inf continued tactical operations as part of Operation
FINNEY HILL under the tactical command of the 198th Infantry Brigade.  Five infantry battalions
were included in the operations: 1st Bn 6th Inf; 1st Bn 52nd Inf; 3rd Bn 1st Inf; 4th Bn 21st Inf; and, 6th
ARVNS.  The objectives included increasing the security of the pacification effort along the coast
south of Chu Lai.  Denying rice to the Viet Cong proved to be a major part of the
operation–5,6400 lbs of rice were captured in the brigade TAOR.  The operation terminated on
11 April 1971.
