LTC Donald G. "Moon"  Mullins successfully commanded the 1st Battalion 6th Infantry from
August 1971 until November 1971 when the unit stood down.

LTC Mullins retired from active duty in December 1984.  He died in 1993.

This photo was supplied LTC Mullins' son, LTC Michael C. "Moon" Mullins, who entered active
duty in December 1984.  The younger LTC Mullins was deployed along side the 1st Bn 6th Inf in
Germany during Task Force Hawk.   LTC Michael Mullins is a Medical Service Corps (MSC)
aviator, currently serving in Europe as the G3 Operations Officer of the 30th Medical Brigade.]
