This photo was taken at Chu Lai shortly after the change of command ceremony in late June 1971.
LTC Arnhym served as the commander for only a few months in the summer of 1971.

Lieutenant Colonel Rolf G. Arnhym, a native of California, comes to command the 1st Battalion
6th United States Infantry from a tour at the Pentagon as the Chief of the Systems Development Branch
for the Manpower and Forces Director.

A 1953 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Lieutenant Colonel Arnhym
is also a graduate of the Operations Research System Analysis Course and the Command and General
Staff College.

During the early years of his Army career, Lieutenant Colonel Arnhym served as an Aide-de-Camp in
the 10th Infantry Division, and as a company commander in the 145th Infantry and 87th Infantry Battle
Group.  He has also served as the Assistant Regimental Battle Group S-3, 87th Infantry Battle Group,
the Brigade S-3, Fort Ord USATC, and the G-3 Training, Fort Ord USATC.

Currently starting his second tour in the Republic of Vietnam, Lieutenant Colonel Arnhym served
previously with the 1st Cavalry Division as Battalion Executive Officer for the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry
and Assistant G-2 of the Division.

Lieutenant Colonel Arnhym is married and has two children.
